Betway becomes Simba SC’s main sponsor in landmark deal

Tanzania.- Betway Africa has entered into a three-year sponsorship deal with Tanzanian pro football side Simba SC to become the club’s official main sponsor. The partnership, valued at Tsh 20 billion (€6.9m), was announced at a ceremony in Dar es Salaam on July 30, 2025.
The partnership offers a win-win scenario for both entities as it boosts Betway’s visibility and credibility in Tanzania’s growing betting market and gives Simba the financial support it needs to thrive in African football.
Zubeda Sakuru, CEO of Simba, described the deal as a game-changer for the club and Tanzanian football. She said: “This partnership will revolutionise football in Tanzania and reinforce Simba’s ambition to become Africa’s number one club. The 20bn investment over three years underscores our unwavering commitment to excellence on the continent.”
Simba board member Salim Abdallah noted that the partnership will play a vital role in improving Simba SC’s brand and urged fans to embrace Betway as part of the club’s journey to greater heights. He said: “Football is an expensive sport, and funding is key. We call on our passionate supporters to stand behind Betway, our official sponsor, as we aim higher.”
Describing Simba SC as one of Africa’s most iconic clubs, Jason Shield, Betway Africa’s Head of Sponsorship, said that the company had been closely following Simba SC’s rise for nearly six years before deciding to formalise the partnership.
Jimmy Masaoe, Betway Tanzania’s Operations Manager, added that Simba’s fans should look forward to exciting promotions and other world-class betting experiences.
