betPawa’s Locker Room Bonuses boost Ugandan basketball performance and competitiveness
betPawa’s per-win bonuses, MVP prizes and championship rewards are fuelling motivation, raising professionalism and intensifying competition in Ugandan basketball.
Uganda.- betPawa celebrated the end of the 2025 National Basketball League (NBL) season by awarding a total of UGX 16.12m (€3,436) in Locker Room Bonuses, Finals MVP prizes and championship rewards.
The season, which ran from March to November, rewarded players and staff for every victory. Each of the 12 players and four technical staff received UGX130,000 (€28) per win. Finals MVPs (Most Valuable Player), the award given to the player judged to have the biggest impact or best performance in a game or series, earned UGX4m (€851) each, while championship-winning teams collected UGX5m (€1,064).
Borah Ndanyungu, Head of Local Marketing and CSR at betPawa, said: “What we’ve seen this season is the power of instant recognition. Every win now means more than points on the board; it means tangible reward, dignity and celebration.” Ndanyungu added: “The Locker Room Bonus has created a new culture of motivation in Ugandan basketball.”
Over 28 wins, the Namuwongo Blazers collected approximately UGX3.64m (€774) for players and staff, while the JKL Lady Dolphins accumulated UGX3.38m (€719) over 26 victories.
Blazers Head Coach Stephen Nyeko praised the initiative. “It has improved intensity and competitiveness amongst teams. It has also improved consistency and discipline as players fight to be added to the game roster.”
Players reap rewards as bonuses raise the game
Uganda Silverbacks player James Okello said: “As players, this will boost us a lot to perform better. We now have a few more privileges like locker room bonuses and medical insurance. Before, we didn’t have these as players.”
The results were evident on the court. Namuwongo Blazers claimed the men’s crown with a 68-55 victory over the City Oilers, while the JKL Lady Dolphins narrowly edged the JT Lady Jaguars 69-68 in the women’s final. Analysts credit betPawa’s bonus structure for enhancing focus, consistency and intensity across the league.
By delivering transparent, immediate incentives, betPawa is fostering a culture of recognition and celebrating player contributions. The company emphasised that this initiative “supports the players’ livelihoods while making Ugandan basketball more competitive.”
With the Locker Room Bonus, betPawa has established a model that motivates players, encourages discipline and strengthens Uganda’s basketball culture.
