Betting revenue from SportPesa boosts Tanzanian grassroots football

SportPesa turns betting profits into tangible support, providing new kits to 16 clubs across Tanzania.

Tanzania.- Tanzania’s grassroots football is getting a major boost, with sports betting giant SportPesa turning betting revenues into much-needed support for local clubs.

The company recently handed out official football kits to four teams, Golden Ridge FC, Geita Kwanza FC, Jamhuri FC and Golden City FC, marking the third phase of its ongoing grassroots initiative.

Doreen Kwayu, Head of Operations at SportPesa Tanzania, underlined the company’s long-term vision. “At SportPesa, our commitment to supporting the development of sports extends to all levels, professional and grassroots teams. Providing teams with the resources they need is part of our commitment to communities across Tanzania. I am very proud of this initiative, and I look forward to supporting even more Tanzanian football teams into the future,” she said.

The rollout follows successful campaigns in the cities of Tanga and Morogoro and brings the total number of Tanzanian clubs benefitting from SportPesa’s support to more than 16 across four regions. For many of these teams, the new kits provide a “tangible lift in resources and morale”.

SportPesa has embraced its responsibility to both sports and communities. This latest initiative is part of a wider commitment to football development across Africa, showing how betting companies can play a direct role in nurturing talent from the ground up.

With every kit handed out, SportPesa is not just equipping players; it is helping shape the future stars of Tanzanian football.
