Angola gaming revenue jumps 24%, lifting ISJ above Kz2.8bn
Tax-driven growth strengthens Angola’s gaming sector, with ISJ revenue surpassing Kz2.8bn as regulatory oversight boosts compliance and fiscal contribution.
Angola.- Angola’s gambling sector reinforced its role as a key fiscal contributor, with the country’s Gaming Supervision Institute (ISJ) generating more than Kz2.8bn (€3.1m) in parafiscal revenue in February 2026, marking a 24 per cent month-on-month increase driven by robust tax collection.
The expansion was underpinned by a 25.3 per cent rise in tax revenues from gaming activities, which exceeded the overall 24 per cent increase, as declines in other revenue streams partially offset the stronger tax performance, according to data from O País.
The figures highlight continued momentum in Angola’s regulated gaming market and its growing importance to state revenues, with ISJ oversight strengthening compliance and improving the conversion of gambling activity into public income.
While some ancillary revenue streams showed softer performance during the period – including a decline of around 19 per cent in service-related income and lower supervision fee collections – these trends did not outweigh the overall strength of tax-driven growth.
This latest monthly performance builds on broader trends, which indicated that Angola’s total gaming revenue rose 75.1 per cent year on year in Q3 2025, driven by a 274 per cent surge in land-based betting, even as online revenue declined. The shift towards more easily regulated retail channels has supported stronger tax capture, helping to reinforce the ISJ’s ability to convert gambling activity into consistent and growing public revenue.
Overall, the February figures reflect a market demonstrating resilience and efficiency, with sustained revenue generation continuing to support Angola’s public finances despite ongoing structural shifts across different segments of the industry.
