African game developers invited to compete for award highlighting real-world social issues

Best Impact Game in Africa Award spotlights socially conscious titles from African developers.

Kenya.- African game developers are invited to compete for the Best Impact Game in Africa Award, recognising titles that tackle real-world social issues, organised by Games for Change Africa and Africa Games Week.

The award is sponsored by Xsolla, a global company that provides business and payment solutions for the video game industry. It aims to highlight African talent and the growing influence of socially conscious gaming on the continent, with submissions closing on November 7 2025.

The competition is expected to attract entries from developers across Africa, with countries such as Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt and Ghana likely to feature prominently.

Organisers said: “The Best Impact Game in Africa Award celebrates games that do more than entertain – it recognises the power of African developers to drive positive change through interactive storytelling,”

Africa Games Week takes place this December and is set to showcase the Best Impact Game in Africa Award, highlighting African games that tackle real-world social issues.

Shortlisted applicants will be notified by November 14, with winners announced during the Africa Games Week awards ceremony on December 4. The award is open to any game published after 1 January 2024 by an African studio, team or solo developer.

The Best Impact Game in Africa Award is set to shine a spotlight on Africa’s most innovative developers using gaming to drive real-world change.
