Africa tops global betting
The continent’s online gambling ecosystem is accelerating growth, with millions of users across Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya and neighbouring countries engaging via apps and mobile platforms. Additional markets, including Ghana, Tanzania, Zambia and Uganda, further expand Africa’s reach, reflecting the continent’s mobile-first betting boom and growing website traffic.
While Africa dominates its regional markets, other nations also feature prominently in the global top 20. India leads the list with Stake at number one, while Germany’s Web.de at number three and GMX at number four also hold strong positions. Other countries in the rankings include Mexico, the United Kingdom, Italy, Greece, Spain and the United States.
With six African operators in the top 20 by traffic, including two from South Africa, the continent is no longer a peripheral player. Its mobile-first users, regional growth and rising traffic have positioned Africa as a central driver of the global online gambling market, setting the stage for continued expansion in 2026 and beyond.
