Zimbabwe Lotteries and Gaming Board steps up industry outreach at Agricultural Show
Zimbabwe’s gambling regulator is using the major Harare exhibition to engage stakeholders, promote responsible gaming and strengthen public awareness of the regulated gaming sector.
Zimbabwe.- Zimbabwe’s Lotteries and Gaming Board (LGB) is stepping up its public and industry outreach at the 2026 Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (ZAS), using the exhibition to showcase its role in regulating the country’s gaming and lottery sector.
The LGB is participating in the August 24-29 event at the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society Showgrounds in Harare. The LGB said: “The ZAS provides a platform for the Board to engage stakeholders, showcase its mandate in regulating the gaming and lottery sector, and connect with the public.”
The Board’s delegation is being led by chairman Dr Eugenia Chidhakwa and includes CEO Godfrey Mutobaya, vice chairman Costain Sabao and board member Fredson Mabhena, who chairs the Legal and Compliance Committee. The delegation is touring the Board’s stand during the exhibition.
Under its “Come Meet the People Behind Responsible Gaming” campaign, the LGB is using the stand to explain its role, discuss the pros and cons of gambling and promote responsible gaming.
The Board is also highlighting how responsible gambling can help protect individuals, families and communities, while encouraging members of the public to learn how to identify and report unlicensed gambling operators. The campaign carries the message: “Your choices can help shape a safer, more responsible gaming environment in Zimbabwe.”
LGB strengthens gaming oversight
The LGB’s statutory mandate includes regulating and controlling the development and operation of lotteries and gaming activities, as well as granting, renewing, transferring and terminating licences for lottery and gaming activities. The regulator’s presence puts gaming regulation alongside a broad range of commercial and business activity at this year’s Agricultural Show.
The 116th Zimbabwe Agricultural Show has attracted 640 exhibitors, up from 613 last year, with all exhibition halls fully subscribed, according to Zimbabwean media. The event is being held under the theme “Powering Growth: Where Agriculture, Technology and Commerce Converge”, with the show positioned as a platform for business, innovation, market access and engagement.
For the LGB, the exhibition provides a high-profile opportunity to bring its regulatory and responsible-gaming message directly to consumers, businesses and other stakeholders, while encouraging greater awareness of the risks associated with unlicensed gambling.
