Where gambling industry figures came in the Sunday Times Rich List 2026

Gambling entrepreneurs maintained a significant presence in the annual list of the UK’s richest individuals and families.

UK.- The Sunday Times Rich List 2026 has been published and once again features several names from the gambling industry. Some rose on the list, while some slipped slightly.

The list ranks the UK’s 350 wealthiest individuals and families based on “identifiable wealth”. It’s compiled by a team of researchers based on estimates from public records, land registries, and other publicly available information. Asset volatility and the absence of visibility of bank account holdings and possible overseas assets have led to some debate over its accuracy.

The 2026 list estimates that the 350 names are together worth £784bn, equal to roughly a quarter of national GDP and up by 1.4 per cent on last year. The list is topped by Sanjay and Dheeraj Hinduja, who have interests in oil, gas, banking and transport and whose fortune is estimated at £38bn.

The Coates family, including Bet365 co-CEOs Denise and John, remain the highest placed personalities from the gambling sector. They slipped one place to 17th overall, although their estimated wealth rose by £283m to £9.73bn. Bet365 has recently expanded into France and Michigan. The family also owns Stoke City FC.

Mark Scheinberg, the Israeli-Canadian founder of Flutter’s PokerStars, climbed one place on the list to 37th, although his estimated fortune dipped slightly to £4.89bn. Fred and Peter Done, the owners of Warrington-based Betfred jumped 11 places to 46th in the list after seeing their estimated wealth grow by nearly £700m to £3.61bn.

Lord Grantchester, whose family is historically connected to The Pools, dropped eight places to 139th with his holdings estimated to remain at £1.2bn. Meanwhile PartyGaming founder Ruth Parasol climbed to 198th place with £780m. The company she founded is now owned by Entain.

Will Rosseff, a director at bet365, reportedly saw his wealth increase £12m to £591m, placing him 239th.
