Sports betting improves in West Virginia
The sports betting segment in West Virginia has achieved revenues of US$2.2 million during January operations.
US.- The West Virginia Lottery Commission has revealed that operators in the state generated US$2.2 million in sports betting revenue in January. Mobile was once again the most popular sports betting modality in West Virginia.
According to official figures, players in the state spent US$35.4 million on sports betting from January 1 to January 25, 2020. Winnings totalled US$32.9 million from those bets.
While retail was the biggest contribute as licensed operators reported US$1.2 million in revenues after US$15.7 million was bet at land-based facilities, mobile was the most popular segment in West Virginia. Players bet US$19.7 million through digital platforms during January operations.
Good first half of the fiscal year
Sports betting in West Virginia reached US$13.8 million in the first half of the fiscal year. During the six months, retail pushed the vertical forward and help rake such amount. According to the latest reports, consumers spent US$144.5 million but won US$128.7 million.
At US$9.1 million, retail was the main driver for West Virginia and its sports betting revenue. Mobile revenue, on the other hand, reached US$5 million for the six months to late December.
