West Virginia sees record sports betting handle

$13.6 million was wagered in the last week of August, the highest weekly handle yet.

US.- West Virginia produced its biggest weekly sports betting handle yet in the last week of August.

A total $13.6 million was wagered in the week ending August 29, making it the largest weekly handle recorded since regulated sports betting launched in the state in 2018.

While West Virginia now reports numbers on a weekly rather than monthly basis, the total sports betting handle for the month of August was $40.4 million.

The state’s mobile handle amounted to $31.1 million, an increase of 155 per cent from $15.9 million in July.

Igaming deposits have also grown strongly since its launch in July, with $37.2 million taken in the first four weeks of regulated online casino gaming.
