Vlad Bondarenko, Head of Product at ReferOn, sat down with Focus Gaming News to discuss the industry’s toughest affiliate-tech challenges and how real-time transparency and automation are reshaping partner performance.

Exclusive interview.- At SiGMA Central Europe, affiliate technology took centre stage during the Fireside Chat “Affiliate Tech in Action – Real-Time Tracking, Compliance & Payout Automation,” where Vlad Bondarenko, head of product at ReferOn, shared his insights on the industry’s most persistent challenges.

With affiliate platforms increasingly expected to deliver accuracy, automation and transparency, Bondarenko highlighted how many solutions still rely on fragmented data and reactive workflows.

In this exclusive interview with Focus Gaming News, he delves deeper into how ReferOn is working to unify tracking, compliance and payouts into a seamless, comprehensible ecosystem, and what this evolution means for the future of affiliate operations.

Vlad, you took part in a Fireside Chat at SiGMA Central Europe titled “Affiliate Tech in Action – Real-Time Tracking, Compliance & Payout Automation.” What were the key ideas or challenges you addressed during the session?

It was an insightful session where I had the opportunity to highlight numerous lingering challenges the industry faces. Affiliate technology has reached a point where precision and automation are expected — but clarity isn’t. Too many platforms are still reactive, built around chaotic spreadsheets and fragmented data.

ReferOn’s focus is on real-time structure and building systems that don’t just track performance, but make it understandable. During the chat, I talked about how automation can serve transparency, not replace it, and how payouts, compliance, and tracking can work as one continuous flow instead of separate silos.

ReferOn has built a strong reputation for simplifying affiliate management. From your perspective, how does technology like yours redefine transparency and control for affiliate programs today?

We’ve learned that “control” is more than about locking things down. It’s about knowing what’s happening the exact moment it happens. ReferOn gives operators and managers a single place to act, verify, and report in real time.

Our architecture eliminates the delays and guesswork that used to exist between data collection and action. Transparency for us isn’t a marketing term — it’s a design principle: clear dashboards, traceable payouts, full audit history.

The less time teams spend decoding their own system, the more control they actually have.

You’ve also introduced Refie on the 27th of October. Could you tell us more about who — or what — Refie is, and how it embodies the “logic” and personality behind ReferOn?

Refie isn’t just an add-on or feature. It’s a reflection of how our platform and team think. For years, affiliate platforms have been built for reporting, not for people. We wanted to change that. And so, Refie was born to simplify. He embodies how we think about technology: clarity, control, and connection should feel natural, not forced.

With Refie, ReferOn has learned how to say hi — not with words, but quietly, through awareness. It’s how the system shows it understands what’s happening. He represents the moment ReferOn moved beyond functionality and toward awareness, emotion, and intelligence. We want to show that the era of faceless B2B tools is now coming to an end.

Refie adds a more human, intuitive layer to automation. How does he appear within the ReferOn interface, and how does this approach enhance the overall user experience?

Refie represents a new level of interaction within ReferOn, designed to make complex affiliate data easier to perceive and act on through visual feedback that turns system logic into something instantly understandable. He now lives inside the platform’s interface, appearing on onboarding screens and system state pages, where he reflects how the system feels and responds in real time.

We like to call this approach “lazy intelligence” — systems that think before you do, so you can focus on what actually matters. Refie is the first visible step toward that.

Refie isn’t a chatbot or a mascot; he’s an integrated UX layer that connects technical precision with human intuition. By reducing noise and guiding attention naturally, he helps affiliate managers work faster while avoiding mistakes and staying aligned with live performance data.

SiGMA Central Europe was a busy event for the ReferOn team. What are some key takeaways that you’ll apply to ReferOn going forward?

The few days we spent in Rome were filled with valuable meetings, during which we were able to network with new, exciting prospects and reconnect with our existing partners. ReferOn has made significant progress this year, with an increased presence at key B2B events. We are now back-to-back winners of the “Best Affiliate Software” award, which is a great honour for all of us.

After every busy event, there’s always a period of reflection where I can take a deep breath. And this time, I feel extremely positive and energised about ReferON’s direction. We’re rapidly solidifying our position as an industry leader, and that’s not only evident in our recognition and award wins, but in the way our product is evolving. But we won’t get complacent. We’ll continue to grind and make sure we show up to future conferences with the same hunger and develop ReferOn to be the solution affiliates are looking for.

Looking ahead to 2026, what’s next for ReferOn? Are there any upcoming innovations or directions you’re most excited to explore as affiliate technology continues to evolve?

We stay aware of market trends, but we don’t chase them.

Affiliate tech moves fast, but the real problems remain the same: scalability, clarity, and control are still core problems to solve. That’s where our 2026 roadmap begins.

We’re evolving ReferOn into a connected ecosystem where brands, affiliates, payments, and data operate under one logic. The next evolution focuses on:

  • Unified Affiliate Profile & SSO: one login across brands and programs, making the experience seamless for affiliates.
  • Offerwall: a single space to discover and activate offers instantly, without manual setup.
  • Gamification: features to re-engage mid-tier affiliates and keep activity steady.
  • Fraud & Compliance Suite: real-time quality control and transparency for regulated markets.
  • Embedded AI Layer: powering smarter automation, not replacing people.
  • Fully Automated Payout Flow: connecting financial logic, audit trails, and payment gateways so payouts happen faster and more transparently.
  • Ongoing Security Enhancements: continuously improving the platform’s protection layer with stronger authentication, granular permissions, and better governance tools — bringing reliability into every part of affiliate management.

Everything we build is centred around one goal: to make affiliate management scalable without needing to grow the team ten times bigger. With clean data, consistent rules, and a human UX, growth and evolution can happen naturally.

2026 will bring features that don’t just look new and shiny, but actively fix problems that have been slowing teams down for ages.
