Virginia Lottery Board to consider Norfolk waterfront casino licence
A meeting will be held on October 29.
US.- The Virginia Lottery Board has announced that it will consider the Norfolk waterfront casino operator licence on October 29. Casino owners Boyd Gaming and the Pamunkey Indian Tribe will appear before the board.
Norfolk City Council approved a lease for Boyd Gaming’s casino project earlier this month. The lease allows Boyd to use portions of land for parking and to lay down construction materials.
Boyd Gaming partnered with the Pamunkey Tribe to develop the casino near Harbor Park. The permanent venue is expected to open in 2027 and will feature 1,500 slot machines, 50 table games, a 200-room hotel and eight food and beverage outlets. Norfolk voters approved the casino via referendum in November 2020.
The company plans to open a temporary venue in November. It will have 130 slot machines, food and drink while the permanent location is constructed.
