Fairfax County casino bill passes Virginia House

The Virginia House of Delegates recently passed a bill proposing a casino and entertainment district in Fairfax County. The proposal heads to Governor Abigail Spanberger, who can sign it into law, or amend or veto it.

SB 756, introduced by Senate majority leader Scott Surovell, was approved by a 64-32 vote after passing the state senate by 23 to 14 in February. If signed into law, Fairfax County would join Norfolk, Petersburg, Bristol, Portsmouth, and Danville as localities eligible to host a casino. Voters in the County would still need to approve the casino through a local referendum.
