Vietnam’s Corona Resort and Casino set to open
The gaming floor at Corona Resort and Casino, the first to allow the Vietnamese to gamble, will finally open next Saturday.
Vietnam.- This Saturday will turn into a landmark for the gaming industry in Vietnam as the first casino to allow locals to gamble is set to open. The gaming floor at Corona Resort and Casino, on Phu Quoc Island will finally open its doors and change the gaming landscape.
“We plan to open for business, including local citizens of Vietnam from the evening of January 19,” Daniel Kupsin, managing director and chief executive of Upffinity Gaming Management BV, told media outlet GGRAsia. According to Mr Kupsin, next Saturday, amenities such as restaurants and entertainment outlets will also be available for use.
The Phu Quoc Tourism Development and Investment Company JSC had appointed Uppffinity Gaming in 2017 to provide its “casino management and advisory services” for the venue. The Netherlands-based firm hired U.S.-based architecture practice Steelman Partners LLP to develop the gaming venue.
The casino was approved in November and is part of a €1.88 billion project that includes gambling and other amenities. Though the casino will open this Saturday, the whole development is expected to be completed some time in 2021.
