Vermont sports betting handle rises in August

The sports betting handle was up 18.58 per cent year-on-year but down 9.5 per cent sequentially.

US.- Vermont Liquor and Lottery has reported that the state’s sports betting handle was $13.4m in August. That’s an increase of 18.58 per cent in year-on-year terms but a decrease of 9.5 per cent sequentially. Adjusted gross wagering revenue was $1.6m, and winnings totalled $11.7m.

Of the total handle, $4.2m was bet in Vermont and $9.1m out of state, up 18 per cent and 21.1 per cent year-on-year, respectively. There were 7,127 active users in the state and 7,552 out of state. The number of bets reached 469,956, with 109,323 in Vermont and 360,633 out of state, with an average dollar amount per bet of $28.64.

Baseball led the market with $3.1m in bets. The figure was up 3.3 per cent in year-on-year terms but down 2.7 per cent sequentially. Table tennis bets totalled $1.6m, American football $1.2m, ebasketball $1m and soccer $832,390.

Vermont’s online sports betting market opened in January 2024.
