Finland’s state-owned operator has opened its second casino.

Finland.- The state-owned gaming operator Veikkaus has opened its second casino, Casino Tampere, north of Helsinki in the south of Finland. The venue hosts table games, slot machines and an electronic table game area with both live and automatic roulette.

Casino Tampere will follow the same safer gaming standards as Veikkaus’s Casino Helsinki. Earlier this year, Veikkaus implemented a loss limit tool on its slots, which also now require mandatory ID verification.

The company said: “Casino Helsinki and Casino Tampere are pioneers in the European casino world in building a responsible gaming environment.”

When Veikkaus announced the start of work on the casino last year, it said the venue would be “a trendsetter of the European casino world as a builder of a responsible gaming environment and a new type of arena casino”.

The venue’s general manager Sami Aiho said: “Veikkaus’s casinos will be trailblazers in responsible gaming. The authentication provides our customers tools for gaming control, which they can use to manage their gaming by, for example, setting limits on their gaming or opting for a total gaming ban.”

The new venue employs around 80 staff, however Veikkaus has announced plans to lay off up to 195 staff nationally due to a decline in revenue.
