US$2.4 billion casino in Atlantic City to re-open
The most expensive casino in the city’s history was closed since 2014’s fall and it is expected to re-open this summer.
US.- Revel, Atlantic City’s most expensive casino to date, will partially open its doors next June, announced its owner Glenn Straub this week. According to Straub, dining and hotel rooms will be open for business this summer whilst he waits for the state Division of Gaming Enforcement to issue his license for the gaming floor.
Since Straub acquired the Revel, he has been fined numerous times over the fire suppression systems, he battled in court with the company that supplied power to the casino and paid US$36,000 for damage caused by seagulls crashing into the windows. He considered to get rid of the property, to convert it into a university or even as temporary housing for Syrian refugees.
Revel first opened its doors in 2012 and never turned a profit in its less than three years in operations. A new name hasn’t been decided yet, but when the property re-opens this summer, it won’t be called Revel, said Straub.
