UKGC renewed partnership with Crimestoppers
The UK Gambling Commission has renewed its partnership as part of the ongoing strategy to stop sport corruption.
UK.- The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) and Crimestoppers will continue their fight to stop money laundering, match-fixing and illegal gambling in sport. Crimestoppers started a campaign along with UK police authorities and the UKGC’s Sports Betting Intelligence in 2014 to inform reports from the public about illegal gambling or corruption.
Nick Tofiluk, Director of Regulation for the UKGC, said that the agreement builds on the excellent relationship that they already had with UK police forces and national law enforcement agencies. Despite having their own confidential helpline used to report gambling-related crimes, Tofiluk insisted that having the help from Crimestoppers will help them tackle crime and corruption quickly and robustly.
Crimestoppers’ Director of Development, Rodger Holden, said: “With our anonymous service, we encourage anyone with information on gambling criminality to contact us, safe in the knowledge their identity will never be revealed.”
