Tropicana Atlantic City cuts 2,700 jobs
Casino furloughs thousands of workers as mandated Coronavirus closure enters the second month.
US.- Tropicana Atlantic City has laid off 2,704 employees as the state-mandated closure of all New Jersey casinos stretches into its second month, according to NJ.com.
In March, Governor Phil Murphy ordered the state’s nine casinos to shut down as part of efforts to combat Covid-19.
“It is no longer the time for business as usual. This is real. Stop believing folks who say this isn’t real,” Murphy said at the time.
The American Gaming Association (AGA) has estimated that New Jersey will lose around $540million in casino revenue every month due to the forced Coronavirus closure.
