theScore secures access to Illinois sports betting market

Providing it’s awarded a licence from state regulators, theScore is set to launch in Illinois in the second half of 2021.

US.- Sports betting app theScore has secured access to the Illinois market through a ten-year-partnership with Harrah’s Joliet Hotel & Casino resort.

The partnership with the Caesars Entertainment property must still be approved by the Illinois Gaming Board, but if all goes to plan, the app should launch in Illinois by the second half of this year.

As part of the deal, Caesars will receive a percentage of all revenue generated by the app and a guaranteed minimum amount. theScore will cover the costs of the licensing procedure.

theScore’s CEO and chairman, John Levy, said in a statement: “Gaining market access to Illinois is a significant development that will bring our award-winning mobile sportsbook to one of the most populous states.

“Caesars is a giant in the casino-entertainment industry and we’re thrilled to have reached this agreement to extend theScore Bet’s footprint into another key new market,” he added.

To date, theScore has launched in four US states: Colorado, Indiana, Iowa and New Jersey. It hopes to continue expanding in North America. There is speculation that it is eyeing the Canadian market.

Earlier this year, the company became an Authorised Sports Betting Operator of the National Basketball Association (NBA) in a new multiyear partnership, gaining access to official NBA betting data and logos for the app.
