The 13 casino goes through inspection

The new Macau casino is still expected to be inaugurated on March 31st, 2020.

Macau.- Casino operators of upcoming new Macau facility The 13 revealed that this week the casino is going through a second inspection by the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) as they need final approval to continue with the installation of the venue. After the first inspection, Macau authorities decided to reject the proposal and negotiate with operators a second inspection.

According to the local media, the Macau Government Tourist Office held the second attempt of final approval of luxury hotel, The 13, during the past week. After the re-inspection was finished, in a written reply to Macau Business, the MGTO said it is now awaiting opinions from the technical department to go on with the approvals.

However, the MGTO report did not specify how long this will take, leading to uncertainty over whether the casino would be able to be opened by the date operators have proposed, on March 31, 2019, as the local media confirmed. According to the report, “South Shore Group, the operator of The 13, failed its initial MGTO inspection due to several defects related to the passenger lifts, finishing of guest rooms and in-room facilities.”

The casino is expected to house 66 gaming tables with minimum bets set at a comparatively high level and around 50 high-limit slot machines. However, it’s yet to be seen if the development will get what it needs to finally be completed and open.
