Svenska Spel launches new service with PMU
The service will allow Swedish bettors to wager on international horse racing events.
Sweden.- State-owned operator Svenska Spel will launch a new horseracing betting service with France’s Pari-Mutuel Urbain (PMU) next week.
The new service, Svenska Spel Trotting & Gallop, will go live on Monday (September 21) and will enable Svenska Spel customers to bet on horseracing from around the world.
It will operate alongside Svenska Spel’s existing service, which offers betting on Swedish trotting.
The agreement with PMU covers live streaming rights and the service will feature the daily High Five game in which players can try to select the five highest-placed horses in a race.
Helena Hallman, Svenska Spel’s product manager for racing, said: “What we have been missing is a high-profit bet on the horses that we now get through the collaboration with PMU.
“This is something our customers have asked for, which we are now happy to be able to offer them.”
PMU’s international director, Aymeric Verlet, said: “We have the same values and are convinced that Svenska Spel Sport & Casino will play a major role in horse racing in Europe.
“The collaboration will help us offer French horse racing to new customers and help strengthen the presence of European horse racing in Sweden.”
Swedish gambling revenue dropped 4.1 per cent to SEK5.94bn (€571.3m) for the second quarter of 2020, the lowest since the launch of online gaming in January 2019.
PMU, meanwhile, appointed a new president of the board in June as it seeks to continue its efforts to revive the image of horse racing betting in France.
