SugarHouse Casino announces name change

The SugarHouse Casino in Pennsylvania will change its name and will now be called Rivers Casino Philadelphia.

US.- The everchanging gaming industry always transforms itself to evolve and outperform its former self. That’s why the SugarHouse Casino will be rebranded as the Rivers Casino Philadelphia.

According to owner Rush Street Gaming, they want the venue to be in line with its other properties. The Fishtown casino will now have a name similar to those in Pittsburgh, the greater Chicago area, and Schenectady.

“Keeping pace with the changing landscape has been paramount to our success,” said Greg Carlin, CEO of Rush Street Gaming. “Creating a unified brand is another example of how we’re anticipating and responding to the competitive market for gaming.”

The name also comes with upgrades worth US$15 million, which include a sportsbook and mobile sports betting and online gaming. The company will rebrand the venue by fall.

SugarHouse Casino first opened in 2010 but expanded in 2016. Said work was worth US$164 million and brought improved results for the venue.

Online gaming

SugarHouse Casino received late in May the green light to launch online sports betting services. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) approved their request and turned them into the first to offer it in the state.

The casino started offering online sports bets from 4 pm to midnight Tuesday and tested a longer period yesterday, while another one will take place today. The full launch will take place on Friday, Richard McGarvey, gaming board spokesman confirmed.
