Studio City to include VIP options
Melco Crown will extend its services whilst facing the arrest of 18 employees.
Macau.- With excellent results on casino revenues last month, the major operator of the gambling city announced its intentions to develop the VIP sector. Although Melco Crown is in discussions with Chinese authorities due to the arrest of 18 of its workers in Macau, the gaming company revealed that VIP services will come into force in November.
Imposing Studio City casino in Macau will begin VIP operations on November 5. SunCity and Tak Chun Group would also extend the services of new junket rooms, which would be opened on November 8, according to a statement released by the regional investment bank Sanford Bernstein statement. The new rooms will seemingly feature 33 VIP tables in operation in total (including direct business).
“VIP operations were anticipated to begin in September. However, there has been a two month delay as the company was negotiating with the DICJ with respect to from where the VIP tables would come. At this stage we do not yet know if the 33 tables are being transferred from other MPEL properties (i.e., Altira) or if any of the 250 mass tables at Studio City are being converted to VIP,” said Bernstein.
