Legal sports betting gathers pace in the USA

Illinois and Michigan to accept first legal sports bets this week.

US.- Legal sports betting continues to expand in the US with a number of states pushing ahead with legislation this year.

Virginia lawmakers passed sports betting legislation late last week, just hours after the Washington Senate passed its own Bill.

However, the most noteworthy developments for this week are launches in Illinois and Michigan.

The first sports bets are expected to be taken in Illinois today and then in Michigan next Wednesday.

The former will have Rush Street Gaming and Churchill Downs Incorporated opening the first retail sports book at 5pm (GMT), while the latter expects to be live by Noon.
