South Dakota casino gaming handle climbs in September

Casino visitors wagered $155.4m, up 2.16 per cent year-over-year.

US.- The South Dakota Commission on Gaming has released its monthly report for September. Casino visitors wagered $155.4m, up 2.16 per cent year-over-year. Taxable adjusted gross revenue totalled $14.5m.

Of the total handle, $146.6m came from slots machines, up 2.39 per cent year-over-year, and $7.7m from table games, down 3.64 per cent. The sports betting handle totalled $1.1m, an increase of 15.75 per cent from the same month in 2024. The National Football League (NFL) led the market with a $535,520 handle, followed by NCAA FB with $296,441, and MLB with $223,862. Tennis generated $18,501 and boxing $12,915. Gaming tax was $1.3m.

In the year-to-date period, the handle was $1.23bn, an increase of 1.72 per cent from the same period in 2024. Of the total, $1.15bn came from slot machines and $70.98m from table games. The sports betting handle was $7.4m.
