SLS Las Vegas to undergo millionaire upgrade
A Reno businessman said that he’s planning a US$100 million investment to revitalise SLS Las Vegas.
US.- Reno businessman Alex Meruelo has said that he is set to invest up to US$100 million in order to revitalise the SLS Las Vegas after the Nevada Gaming Commission approved his acquisition on Thursday.
The money will be used to upgrade the casino floor and renew the slot machine offerings, as well as to upgrade rooms and redesign the pool. Spokesman Christopher Abraham said: “The initial idea of what will be invested is up to $100 million over the next couple of years.”
Meruelo said that he’s planning on making the property profitable by investing in the upgrades and redesign. “The capital investment is something that will make a dramatic impact. Things are already turning around, and I am very optimistic,” he said.
Moreover, when talking about the speculations that the casino could go back to its original Sahara name, he said that the SLS name will be used for another year and that he will reevaluate the options with the brand moving forward. While a new general manager will be announced in the coming days, Meruelo said that a 32-foot-tall abstract piece in front of the entrance will be removed.
