Slot machine revenue up in Pennsylvania

The PGCB revealed that gross revenue generated in Pennsylvania rose 5.4 per cent in March.

US.- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) reported today that gross revenue generated this March through slot machine gaming at the state’s 12 casinos rose 5.4 per cent over revenue generated in March 2017.

According to the monthly report, the combined gross revenue from slot machines in March of this year was US$221 million compared to last March’s revenue of US$209 million.  The increase was the largest percentage jump in month over month slot machine gross revenue since February 2016.

Tax revenue in March of this year from the play of slot machines was US#115 million. The average number of slot machines operating throughout Pennsylvania was 25,815 in March 2018 compared to 26,222 in March 2017.

The PGCB also released the Annual Racetrack Casino Benchmark Report detailing the impact of Pennsylvania casinos on the Commonwealth’s horse racing industry. The report includes and compares information from the 2017 calendar year. Among the report’s findings is that the tax generated by the play of slot machines amounts to US$239 million and was earmarked for enhancements of race purses, assisting breeding operations located in Pennsylvania, providing health and pension benefits for horsemen, and to support agricultural initiatives.
