US.- Rivers Casino has announced that a new poker room at its Des Plaines casino will open later this month. The addition is part of the Illinois casino’s $87m expansion. The 5,600 square foot poker area will feature 22 poker tables.

Rush Street Gaming CEO Greg Carlin, said: “With this proposed expansion, we will be able to offer our guests more of the entertainment and dining options they enjoy, additional gaming opportunities and a long-desired poker room. We have always offered a first-class experience for our guests. As the economy reopens, we’re excited to raise the bar and provide them with an even better experience.”

The first phase of the Illinois casino expansion, covering the casino’s first floor, is complete, while the second floor is still in progress. Once finished, the total footprint will be 78,000 square feet.

The ground level addition opened January 24, and included an Asian-themed restaurant with a new and larger menu. Meanwhile, the second floor addition includes a new slot machine area, a 10,000 square foot ballroom and the 22-table Poker Room. It is yet to be confirmed what poker games will be played at the tables.

The Rivers Casino Des Plaines poker area will be the fourth poker room in Illinois after Bally’s Quad Cities Casino and Hotel, Hollywood Casino Aurora and Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin.
