Richmond, Virginia, reveals three finalists for casino licence

The three operators will now begin talks with the city council’s Evaluation Panel, which will make a recommendation on which should operate a new casino in Richmond.

US.- The City of Richmond’s Evaluation Panel has named the three operators who remain in the running to win a licence to operate a casino resort in the Virginian city.

The finalists are Bally’s Richmond Casino Resort, Live! Casino & Hotel Richmond and One Casino + Resort.

The city council said in a press release: “The top-ranked proposals stood out because the operators provided strong proposals with detailed financial and operational analyses to support their vision for a resort casino in Richmond.”

The three operators will now move into a phase of negotiation with the City Council’s Evaluation Panel, which plans to make its final recommendation on the operator and location for the casino to council in May.

If the council agrees on the panel’s choices, the proposal will be put to Richmond residents in a referendum.

Next week, Richmond is to host three virtual meetings, one with each of the potential operators, to discuss the projects and give them an opportunity to answer questions from the public.

Operators who haven’t made it through the next phase of the race are Golden Nugget, Wind Creek Hospitality, and the Pamunkey Indian Tribe & Reservation.

The city said their proposals would not move to the next phase due to “lack of site control, concerns about the feasibility of financial projections, lack of organizational experience and/or deficiency of the proposal.”
