Rhode Island sports betting handle up 47.2% year-on-year

Rhode Island players wagered $58.6m in January.

US.- The Rhode Island sports betting market generated wagers of $58.6m in January, up 6.7 per cent from December’s $54.9m and 47.2 per cent from January 2021’s $39.8m. The figure was just 3 per cent shy of October’s record $60.2m. 

A record $33.5m was staked in online wagers, 8.2 per cent more than December’s $31m and 53.1 per cent more than the $21.9m wagered in January 2021. The month’s online sports betting handle surpassed October 2021’s $31.1m.

In terms of revenue, Rhode Island generated in $5.2m, a 343.9 per cent increase from December’s $1.2m and 40.7 per cent more than January 2021’s $3.7m. According to the Rhode Island Lottery, Video lottery terminal income was $31.1m, down 14.4 per cent from December’s $36.4m but 15.9 per cent higher than January 2021’s $26.9m.

Table games revenue in January was $9.1m, which represents a decrease of 11.8 per cent from December’s $10.3m but a 51.3 per cent increase compared to the same period of the previous year when table games revenue was $6m.
