Resorts World hopes to open video gambling hall in NY mall
Resorts World hopes to follow in the footsteps of other gambling companies and open a facility inside a shopping centre.
US.- The operators of Resorts World Catskills in Sullivan County plan to open a new gambling facility in Newburgh Mall in New York.
A company spokesperson told the Times-Herald Record: “Developing a video gaming machine facility in Orange County has, for many years, been part of Resorts World’s long-term vision for Hudson Valley and the Catskills.”
“It will create hundreds of good-paying unions jobs, generate significant revenue for New York’s public schools, and is an important step in ensuring the long-term sustainability of Resorts World Catskills.”
The facility would contain video lottery terminals, although the exact number has not been confirmed.
The casino operator is set to present its plans to the Newburgh Town Board at a workshop meeting on February 22.
Resorts World is not the first casino company to move into a shopping centre. Live! Casino Pittsburg, the $150m new casino which opened last year, is located in the Westmoreland Mall. It hosts 750 slot machines and 30 table games.
