Record figures for online gaming in New Jersey
Online gaming operators in New Jersey saw revenue of $118.6m in July, topping March’s record.
US.- Online gaming has broken another record in New Jersey after the nine casinos operating in the state took revenue of $118.6m in July, up 36 per cent year-on-year. The figure is almost $5m higher than the previous record of $113.7m set in March 2021.
Figures from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement show total win for casinos and racetracks, including in-person betting and sports betting, at $450m in July, up 36 per cent from July 2020.
According to Jane Bokunewicz, director of the Lloyd Levenson Institute at Stockton University, last month’s figures show that igaming remains relevant despite land-based operations resuming.
She said: “This could show that patrons have not lost their appetite for internet gaming products even as they return to the in-person gaming experience, or that more people overall are participating in different gaming options.”
James Plousis, chairman of the New Jersey Casino Control Commission, said: “The casinos’ recent positive momentum demonstrates Atlantic City’s resilience and should bolster confidence in the recovery of New Jersey’s tourism and gaming sector.”
