Pure Casino joins IBIA to strengthen betting integrity in Alberta
The move follows the launch of the province’s regulated igaming market in July and adds the operator to IBIA’s integrity monitoring network.
Canada.- Pure Casino, Alberta’s largest land-based casino operator and a newly licensed online gaming group, has joined the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA). Pure Casino currently operates seven casino properties across Alberta following its acquisition of Gamehost Inc. in June. The group said its operations represent approximately one-third of Alberta’s retail casino market.
Pure Casino CEO Brad Belhouse said joining IBIA was an important step as the company develops its igaming offering in Alberta. He highlighted the partnership’s role in protecting customers, safeguarding sporting integrity and supporting a trusted and well-regulated betting environment. IBIA CEO Khalid Ali said Pure Casino’s position as Alberta’s largest land-based casino operator would bring additional scale and expertise to the association’s Canadian and global integrity monitoring network.
Ontario and Alberta are currently Canada’s only regulated igaming markets. In both provinces, online sports betting operators must have contractual arrangements with an Independent Integrity Monitor (IIM) approved by the relevant provincial regulator. IBIA was approved as an integrity monitor in Alberta in May. The association uses its Global Monitoring and Alert Platform and other tools to identify and assess suspicious betting activity, working alongside Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC).
