Philippines regulates POGO licences operations
The government of the Philippines changed this week the POGO licence process.
Philippines.- The Bureau of Internal Revenue of the Philippines will receive from now on the reports on POGO operations, as revealed by local media yesterday morning. According to the official reports published this week, Philippine gaming regulators approved an amendment that obligates international gaming operators to register with the Bureau.
“Any foreign corporation engaged in POGO (engaging in online activities) will be considered as a Resident Foreign Corporation engaged in business in the Philippines,” reads the revenue memorandum circular No.78-2018 released by the Bureau of Internal Revenue of the Philippines yesterday, as well as the local media.
The registration will also have to be made by all foreign-based and Philippine-based operators, including those who have already been issued an Offshore Licence by Pagcor. October will be a key month for Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) as nearly every single one of the 45 companies will have to renew their operating licences. In order to continue offering online gambling in the Philippines, 37 POGO licences will have to be renewed next month.
The 37 licences were issued by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) in October 2016 and CEO Andrea Domingo decided they’d last for a year before introducing changes to rules and regulations.
