Pennsylvania sets new state record for gaming revenue
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has reported that revenue in October rose 33 per cent year-on-year.
US.- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has reported that the state’s combined revenue from regulated gaming and fantasy contests reached $425.9m in October. That’s an increase of 9.14 per cent on September 2021 ($415.6m) and 33 per cent rise from October 2020. It also breaks the previous record of $423.8m set in July.
Total tax revenue generated through all forms of gaming and fantasy contests was $172.3m, up from $169.1m in September. Sources of gaming revenue regulated by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board include slot machines, table games, internet gaming, retail and internet sports wagering, fantasy contests and video gaming terminals (VGTs).

October’s gross revenue from slot machines was $203.3m, a 31 per cent increase when compared to the $154.7m generated in October 2020. Tax revenue from slots was $103.8m. Table games revenue was $89m, an increase of 41 per cent year-on-year. October was the single highest month for table games revenue since July’s $86.9m.
Online casino gaming generated gross revenue of $102.8m, an increase of 72 per cent from October 2020. That’s also a new high, beating the $101.2m reported in May 2021. Tax revenue generated from internet gaming was $43.3m.
October’s sports wagering handle was $777.2m, up from $525.8m in 2020. Again, it was the highest number on record, eclipsing January’s $615.2m. The taxable sports wagering revenue figure for October was $23.5m, 36 per cent lower than October 2020’s taxable revenue of $36.7m.
Total adjusted revenue for video gaming terminals (VGTs) was $3.3m, while revenue from fantasy contests was $3.6m, beating December 2019’s record $3.4m.
