Pennsylvania: Hollywood Casino Morgantown to open Wednesday
Penn National Gaming is preparing to open the $111m casino.
US.- Penn National Gaming is all set for the opening of Hollywood Casino Morgantown this Wednesday (December 22) after construction was held up for months because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Marc Guastella, the casino’s general manager, said the property would appeal to all the senses.
He said: “The visuals, the sounds, the smells, everything. The way this is laid out appeals to all of that.
“Seeing this property grow in the last few months – the last few years frankly – has been incredible. I remember standing here when it was just a metal frame. And standing here and seeing everything that’s in this building is truly remarkable. It’s a testament to our incredible team and our incredible company.”
The $111m facility 81,425-square-foot facility has 750 slot machines and 28 table games, plus room for 10 more table games, which is the limit allowed for a Category 4 licence. There will also be two hybrid games where players can wager with a live feed from table games.
Besides gaming, the casino will offer a Barstool Sportsbook, Red Lotus Asian Kitchen, a branch of Tony Luke’s, the iconic Philadelphia cheesesteak stand and Bar 76. Smoking is prohibited in the main gaming floor and around the restaurants. There will be designated places for smokers.
Erin Chamberlin, Penn National’s senior vice president, regional operations, said that being able to build from the ground up allowed the company to add separate rooms for smoking as it has done at its facilities in Ohio.
Guests can download a “wallet” to their cellphones to deposit funds. Any leftover funds or winnings are transferred back to the phone when the player is finished. The casino will also accept cash along with tickets and chips at tables.
The casino will be open 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 9am to 4am on other days.
The Morgantown Category 4 casino represents Penn National’s fourth venue in Pennsylvania, joining Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Grantville, Hollywood Casino at the Meadows in Washington, and Hollywood Casino York, which opened in August.
