Pennsylvania gaming revenue up 26% year-on-year
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has reported revenue of $393.1m for January.
US.- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has reported that the state’s combined revenue from regulated gaming and fantasy contests reached $393.1m in January. That’s an increase of 26 per cent from January 2021. However, it was the first month that Pennsylvania gaming revenue dipped below $400m since June 2021 ($388.9m).
The board reported that at $108.3m revenue from Internet Casino Type Gaming was the highest to date eclipsing the previous high set in October 2021 when revenue was $102.8m. Total tax revenue generated collectively through all forms of gaming and fantasy contests was $157.5m in January.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National recorded the most revenue for the third consecutive month with $57.2m. Parx Casino generated $51.8m and Valley Forge Casino Resort $50.9m.
Pennsylvania gaming revenue by segment
January’s gross revenue from slot machines was $168.4m, a 19.68 per cent increase when compared to the $140.7m generated in January 2021. The number of slot machines in operation last month was 26,158 compared to 18,703 in January 2021 during which Covid-19 safety measures were still in place. Tax revenue from slots machines in January was $86.6m.
Table games revenue for the first month of 2022 was $78.2m, an increase of 53.9 per cent year-on-year. Meanwhile, online casino games generated gross revenue of $108.3m during January 2022 compared to $80.4m in January 2021, an increase of 34.69 per cent.
The sports betting handle was $793.7m, a 29 per cent increase year-on-year, and a new state record, topping November’s $761.5m. Total adjusted revenue for January 2022 for video gaming terminals (VGTs) was $3.1m, 38.42 per cent higher than January 2021.
