Pennsylvania evaluates licenses
After the state passed a new gaming legislation, the gaming regulator from Pennsylvania announced the beginning of the licensing process.
US.- Gaming proposals will now be accepted by Pennsylvania’s gaming regulators as the process has begun under an official legislation. According to the announcement, gaming companies will be able to present their projects to expand the local market with new licenses. The projects aim at growing the Category 4 casinos.
The government will soon start approving new gaming licenses related to the category of casinos in the state. The projects will be reviewed by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, which will also grant the licenses to the approved operators. The initial round of auctions for licences will begin on Wednesday, January 10.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board will eventually grant 10 Category 4 casino licenses at a minimum bid price of US$7.5 million for slot machine licenses and table games at US$2.5 million. “The maximum number of machines will be set between 300 and 750 and maximum 30 table games in the first year of operation with the possibility of adding 10 more table games after that,” the regulation says.
As Pennsylvania approved the state’s gambling expansion that allows the installment of satellite (or mini) casinos, municipalities are now deciding if they’re in favor of them or not. Whilst they have time until December 31 to decide, more than 200 municipalities have already expressed its opposition to mini casinos.
