Pennsylvania delays iGaming vote

The legislature’s vote on the potential iGaming regulation in Pennsylvania will not take place this week.

US.- Pennsylvania authorities have delayed the potential legalisation of iGaming industry. However, official representatives assured the bill is near its final approval and will be sent to the State Governor Tom Wolf’s office. iGaming legislation would improve Pennsylvania’s 2017-18 budget.

“The bill has been negotiated. It’s almost to the finish line. When the House comes back we can finish those negotiations and put it on the governor’s desk,” said Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman, R-Centre County to the local news outlet Penn Live.

The legalisation of gaming expansion, including iGaming, daily fantasy sports, satellite casinos and online lottery tickets, would represent US$200 million in the proposed Pennsylvanian US$2.2 billion revenue package. This fiscal year’s budget generated great controversy due to the necessity of expanding the gaming industry in order for it to be achievable. State legislators would now discuss the approval of several gaming projects to reach the US$700 million the local market needs to end the cash shortfall.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf revealed last week that the budget will become law, as legislators will have to approve several amendments to face the economic plan. Even if the governor approved the measure without actually signing, the state rejected one proposal to add 40k video gambling devices around the state.
