Pennsylvania allows new mini casino
The new mini casino would be located at the Westmoreland Mall in Pennsylvania.
US.- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board kept moving forward with the licensing process for mini casinos and now operators announced they are installing a new venue at the Westmoreland Mall in Pennsylvania. It is expected that this week the operating company confirms where the mini casino will be located at.
According to local press, State Senator Kim Ward, R-Hempfield, revealed last Tuesday to the local media that Stadium Casino LLC, the Maryland-based casino company purchased a US$40.1 million license in January in order to open one of 10 mini casinos in Pennsylvania. The Senator said the information was confirmed by officials with Stadium Casino LLC.
Meanwhile, authorities have granted the company a deadline until Friday to formally file paperwork declaring its plans for the mini casino in the state. According to Kim Ward, the company would file an application this week with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board in Harrisburg to detail the plans for the casino, which is expected to generate US$120 million in economic impact for Westmoreland County. “This will revitalise the mall property, and it goes beyond the casino,” Ward added.
Five out of ten licences for mini casinos have already been awarded in Pennsylvania and companies are eager to develop the venues in the townships they sponsor. Penn-Northwest Development Corp. is one of them and is pushing Mount Airy to use its own licence to develop a venue in Springfield Township.
