Paddy Power extends World Darts Championship sponsorship
The Flutter-owned gambling operator will sponsor the Professional Darts Corporation’s event for another five years.
UK.- Flutter Entertainment’s Paddy Power has confirmed it will remain the title sponsor of the World Darts Championship for another five years. It’s extended its deal with the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) until 2031. The next tournament runs over the festive season from December 11 to January 3.
The Irish bookmaker first took on the role in 2023. It says it has since raised over £2m for Prostate Cancer UK as part of its charity pledge to donate £1,000 for every 180 scored during the 2024 and 2025 tournaments. The sponsorship deal also includes a nine-dart bonus, with £180,000 split evenly between Prostate Cancer UK and a randomly selected spectator when a player hits a perfect leg,.
Funds raised are directed to Prostate Cancer UK’s TRANSFORM trial, which focuses on improving early detection and prevention of prostate cancer.
The company says it now plans to use its social media presence to amplify awareness campaigns, pledging to encourage more men to check their risk of prostate cancer.
Paddy Power said: “The Paddy Power World Darts Championship is the greatest party in sport and we’re proud to extend our sponsorship for another five years. We promise we’ll keep bringing more excitement, entertainment and unmistakable Paddy Power mischief to the event wherever it’s held.
“But above all, we are very proud to be able to use our sponsorship to help the vital and life-changing work Prostate Cancer UK do. Our Big 180, Bigger 180 and Even Bigger 180 charity initiatives have become huge, award-winning campaigns and we look forward to continuing to support a push for a world where no man dies of prostate cancer.”
PDC chief executive Matt Porter added: “Paddy Power has had a hugely positive impact on the World Darts Championship over the past two years. Their creativity, investment and passion for the sport have elevated the tournament to new heights, delivering an unforgettable experience for fans in the arena and millions watching around the world.
“We are delighted to extend this partnership through to 2031 and look forward to working together to continue growing the event, supporting the players, and using the global platform of darts to raise vital funds and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK.”
