Osaka seeks women support

According to official polls, more women are opposed to casino developments in Japan than men.

Japan.- As the Japanese government’s official polls reveal, women are more likely to be against casino legislation than men and, therefore, the Osaka prefectural and city governments introduced a project this week in order to win local women’s support on their casino proposal that could turn Osaka in one of the most visited touristic places of Japan.

During the first lecture event held by Osaka authorities, experts on the casino issue spoke directly to Tsubomisaku Project, a women’s group that discusses local issues, including the integrated resort developments. However, the women group proved that they are more concerned over health issues and preventions from earthquakes.

The race for an integrated resort (IR) bid in Japan is on after the Legislature passed the required Laws to regulate the segment. As Osaka pushes to secure its own venue, some concerns were raised after the recent Typhoon which hit the Prefecture, but high ranked officials have reassured the safety of the region to host IRs.

The Osakan government continues to push for an integrated resort (IR) to be developed and is looking to get the best out of the business opportunity the gambling expansion has created. Meanwhile, international casino operators continue to lobby in the prefecture and construction companies are moving forward to get ready to push for a deal when the licensing process begins.
