Ontario igaming wagers and revenue increase in third year of operations
The regulated online betting and gaming market reported CA$82.7bn in wagers and CA$3.2bn in gross gaming revenue for the year ended March 31.
Canada.- Ontario’s regulated online betting and gaming market generated CA$82.7bn in wagers and CA$3.2bn in gross gaming revenue for the year ended March 31, 2025, the third year of operations in the province.
According to iGaming Ontario, wagers increased by 31 per cent year-over-year, not including promotional wagers, while gaming revenue increased by 32 per cent. This includes rake fees, tournament fees, and other fees across all operators.
Casino wagers were CA$69.6bn, up 34 per cent over 2023-24. Casino gaming revenue totalled CA$2.4bn, up 36 per cent.
Betting wagers were CA$11.4bn, a 17 per cent increase over 2023-24. Betting revenue was CA$724bn, a 23 per cent increase. Peer-to-peer (P2P) poker wagers were CA$1.7bn, a 2 per cent increase while revenue was flat at CA$66m.
The report stated that 83.7 per cent of Ontarians continue to choose to play on regulated sites, according to a third annual IPSOS study, but 20.2 per cent of those playing on regulated sites are also still engaging with the unregulated market.
Heidi Reinhart, chair of the board of directors, said: “These results show Ontario is home to a truly dynamic igaming market with a strong roster of operators, and a world-class list of games available for players. With 49 operators offering 84 gaming sites, Ontario’s regulated market continues to grow by offering a safer environment for Ontarians to play.”
