Omaha City to provide tax incentives for new casino
The Omaha City Council has approved a plan to provide tax incentives for the development of a casino at Horsemen’s Park.
US.- Omaha City Council has approved $17.5m in tax incentives for Warhorse Gaming Omaha‘s project to develop a $220m new casino at Horsemen’s Park.
The Winnebago tribe launched the project after voters approved casinos in Nebraska. However, Ho-Chunk Inc’s subsidiary Warhorse, said the development “would not be feasible without the TIF.”
The company will have to repay the TIF over a period of years, while paying a lower property tax rate based partially on the value of the undeveloped property.
The Omaha City casino is expected to employ around 500 full and part-time workers.
