The Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission is seeking contractors to help with the details for rules and regulations before beginning to license casino operators.

US.- The Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission is looking for contractors to finalise rules and regulations for casinos in the next few months. They expect to award the first permits by the end of the year.

Commission officials say that regulations are in place after the governor signed off on casino guidelines this session, but nothing has been finalised yet. They want a consulting firm to do an eight week project over the summer to tidy everything up.

Once they get everything in order, they’ll petition for a hearing with the governor, have a public hearing and, ultimately, the governor attorney general and secretary of state will sign off on it.

“We still have to hire a tremendous amount of staff,” said Tom Sage, director of Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission.

“Maybe not initially in the next few months, but we are going to have to hire staff. You’re going to need enforcement. You’re going to need compliance. You’re going to need auditing.”
