The Arkansas racing track has brought forward the opening of the season to December.

US.- The Oaklawn horse track in Hot Springs, Arkansas, is opening its racing season in December for the first time. The season traditionally begins in January. The 66-day season at Oaklawn Casino Resort will begin on December 3 and will run for five months until May 8, 2022.

Races in the new season will be held Friday through Sunday most weeks, with breaks for Christmas and Easter, and with the addition of a Monday card for President’s Day. Located an hour southwest of Little Rock, the track opened in 1904. Every spring, the track hosts the Arkansas Derby, considered an important prelude to the Triple Crown races.

Oaklawn President Louis Cella said: “We are looking forward to the new format. The additional days will provide a huge economic impact for horsemen, Arkansas Thoroughbred breeders, and tourism in central Arkansas.”

The Oaklawn Casino and horse track is the only legal gambling venue in the area. Bettors can download the Oaklawn Anywhere mobile betting app and legally wager on horse races at Oaklawn and other tracks around the world.
