North Carolina sports betting handle rises in June
The handle rose 36 per cent year-over-year, while gross wagering revenue fell for a second consecutive month.
US.- The North Carolina State Lottery Commission has released its sports wagering revenue report for June. The state’s seven licensed interactive sports wagering operators posted a handle of US$589.6m, up 36.1 per cent year-over-year.
Gross wagering revenue was US$54.1m, down from $64.3m in the previous month. Winnings totalled $530.3m and estimated tax proceeds were US$9.7m.
For fiscal year 2026, running from July 2025 to June 2026, wagering revenue totalled US$7.62bn, up 14.9 per cent from the previous fiscal year. Gross wagering revenue reached US$794.8m and tax proceeds totalled US$143.1m, both up nearly 23 per cent year-over-year.
Mobile sports wagering launched in the state in March 2024. North Carolina Governor Josh Stein this month signed a new state budget that raises the tax rate on sports wagering operators from 18 to 23 per cent and introduces a new tax on prediction markets.
