The House has granted its approval to amendments made by the Senate.
US.- Online sports betting in North Carolina is to be legalised after the House of Representatives gave its second approval to amendments made to HB 347 by the Senate in a 68-45 vote. The bill now awaits the signature of North Carolina governor Roy Cooper to become law. Cooper has already expressed his support.
Filed by representative Jason Saine and a bipartisan group of lawmakers, the bill allows betting from mobile devices on horse racing, professional, college, and Olympic sports as well as esports. Changes introduced by the Senate include the addition of parimutuel horse racing betting, a rise in the tax rate from 14 to 18 per cent and the removal of promotional credit deductions from taxable GGR.
Land-based sports betting was legalised in North Carolina in 2021.
