Newgioco enters Washington DC
Newgioco will enter the sports betting market in Washington DC after it partnered with Handle19 to supply it with its ELYS platform.
US.- The sports betting market continues to expand in the US and companies are linking up to take advantage. That’s why Newgioco will enter Washington DC through a new partnership with sports bar chain Handle19.
Newgioco will supply Handle19 with its ELYS platform in its online and land-based sports betting business in Washington DC.
“We are very pleased to have selected Newgioco to partner with for our planned sports betting operations,” owner Shane August said. “A key factor in our decision came down to the fact that they developed ELYS platform in a fully regulated market. It also has both online and land-based functionality, giving us a comprehensive tool and the know-how of the Newgioco team to work closely with regulators to help shape the D.C. sports betting market for years to come.”

The Office of Lottery and Gaming has announced the adoption of rules to regulate sports betting in DC. They published the rules as support implementation of the “Sports Wagering Lottery Amendment Act of 2018” passed by D.C. City Council last year.
Lottery Executive Director Beth Bresnahan explained that the 115-page document incorporates feedback from potential operators. They submitted them during the public comment period that closed on July 15.
“The changes incorporated by the Office largely provide further clarification to the operating community. It did not fundamentally change the rules as initially proposed earlier this summer,” she said.
